can anyone tell me which is the best book for programming

OpenStudy (isis):

It depends on what programming lang. you'd like to learn and on your 'reading style' (by that I mean if you like authors who don't fool around with concepts and write the straight facts with no fancy boxes or unreallistic examples)

A no non-sense approach to learning and getting to the basics, can be done with the "For Dummy's" series. It won't make you a professional programmer but will definatly get you started
