look at what happens for typical functions

$$y = x^{2}$$

if you add or subtract to it

$$y = x^{2} + c$$ where c is some constant it shifts up and down by c units

if you take

$$y = (x+d)^{2}$$  where d is come constant then if d>0, it shifts to the left and if d<0 then it shifts to the right.

using multiplication by factors and addition/subtraction, you can figure out the final solution
