y=-(1/2) x +6 Is this the first equation? or is it y=-1/(2x+6)

I am going to assume you meant the first equation above and if that is the case then the slopes must be negative reciprocals if they are perpendicular. So set each equation y=...and then set the slope of one equal to the negative reciprocal of the other. solving it this way then k=-8
