having trouble with derivitives from the left for a greatest integer function that my book shows as an example. is anyone able to assist me?

the f(x)=[x] (greatest integer when x approaches 0 from the left, the derivitive is stated as:

([x]-0)/x=infinity I don't understand why it equals infinty, I am clearly missing a basic math property or something
