solve the equation for y. 2x+3y=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x/3

OpenStudy (yrivers36):

how did you come up with this answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i take it back, -x/3... first operation, subtract 3y from both sides, yielding 2x=x-3y then, subtract x from both sides yielding x=-3y then divide both sides by -3 to determine y. yields -x/3=y

OpenStudy (yrivers36):

i got it thank you

no problem...Good luck
