What is 75% of 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are three quarters - divide 32 by 4 and then multiply by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide by 4 and multilpy by three wont doi oanythging you should multilpy them 75/100 multiplied by 32/1 that would do the trick right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, 75/100 = 3/4 and you can always write \[ {a over b} * c = a * {1 over b} * c = ac *{1 over b} = ac : b \] So, my trick is to divide whole number by denominator (this follows from the fact that dividing by factor is multiplying by reciprocal and vice versa) and then multiplying by numerator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry: \[{a \over b} * c\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[{a \over b} *c = ac * {1 \over b} = ac : b\]
