A) because when you plug in x=0 in the function your y=5. so you got the point (0,5) in the other case you will have for x=1 --> y=6 (1,6) and for x=7 --> y=12 (7,12)

I would have to disagree... y > |x| + 5 means that whatever |x|+5 yields, y must be greater than that value... Therefore the correct answer would be (b).

Yes your are right the solution is (b) because in the graph the origin point is (0,5) going up therefore the point (1,7) is the correct answer. I apologize!
