Why do we have to check the solutions when we solve radical equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because in most radical cases, there will be more than just one answer for x. Some answers when you solve algebraically won't check for your equation when you check. Look at this http://www.purplemath.com/modules/solverad2.htm
