how would I find the points for the piecewise function: f(x)={2x+1 if x >=0 x if x<0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, if x>=0, plug x into 2x+1, if x<0, plug x into x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you give me examples?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If x = -1, then you'd plug -1 into x. If x = 1, you'd plug it into 2x+1 to get 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do I figure out what the y point is if I plug -1 into x since there is only x in the equation??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=x, so it'd be -1...
