OpenStudy (anonymous):

let n be a radomly selected integer from 1 to 20. find the indicated probability (n is 2 given that it is even)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probability of what?

OpenStudy (sandra):

I think this is a conditional probability problem - that is P(A|B) with A = probability of a 2 given that the number is even

OpenStudy (sandra):

so intuitively, if the number is even, there are 10 even numbers between 1 and 20 inclusive

OpenStudy (sandra):

and one of those even numbers is 2

OpenStudy (sandra):

so the probability should be 1/10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes sense.

OpenStudy (sandra):

the definition of P(A|B) = P(A and B)/ P(B)
