I could tell you the answer, but since you want to teach, I think it'll be better if you figure it out yourself. Look at a simpler problem. It'll almost seem intuitive. There's a class of 6 people and 1/2 of them are boys. How many people in the class are boys? Think about your answer, and then try and figure out the math steps you instinctively did to get there. If you can do that, you'll see how to set up this specific problem as well as any other proportion problem you come across. If this was completely unhelpful, let me know and I can try and give more guidance than that.
