When you have the product (R + number1)(R _ number2), you end up with Rsquare + (number 1)*R + (number2)*R + (number1)(number2). Going in reverse, we want to factor 20 to get number1 and number 2. What are the factors of 20? Remember that there's a negative 20, so one of the factors will be negative. -1 * 20, 1 * (-20), 2 * (-10), ... Which pair of factors adds to 1, the coefficient of R.
