OpenStudy (taylor):

ok i really suck at math so can anyone help me with : x-5y=-15

OpenStudy (oaktree):

You need another equation to solve.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Unless you're solving for y in terms of x.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Which are you doing?

OpenStudy (taylor):

im solving for y

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Ah, well.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

So, if you're solving for y in terms of x (which is what I suppose you're doing)...

OpenStudy (oaktree):

You add 5y and 15 to both sides to cancel them out and get 5y=x+15.

OpenStudy (oaktree):

Following?

OpenStudy (taylor):

yes so is like tht my anwser? :/

OpenStudy (oaktree):

No, because you have to get y, not 5y.

OpenStudy (taylor):

oh ok so would i divide 5

OpenStudy (oaktree):

So you get y=x/5+3

OpenStudy (oaktree):

That's your answer.

OpenStudy (taylor):

it tht x over 5

OpenStudy (taylor):

is* :D
