What's 8.10% of 3.00x10^8 I have tried it, got 2.43 x 10^7 and have been told that's wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you take percent of something you are actually multiplying by that number then deviding 100 For example 2% of 10 10 * 2/100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, your answer is correct, you were told you were wrong by whom?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My lovely homework site where I have to submit my work. Maybe it's how I'm typing it in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is sig-Fig correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

significant figures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah yes, I forgot about sig figs. I'll check that out. : ) Thanks for the reminder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, i see your mistake.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not 10^8, i think you miscounted your zeros

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the extended number is : 2430000000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's 10^9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.43 x 10^9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The zeros and the sig figs always seem to get me. Thanks for showing me what I did wrong, I appreciate it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, i told you i was right, i counted the freaking zeros wrong. lol im glad i double checked. ALWAYS double check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i told you you* were right,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did your homework page took it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, it worked out in the in. : ) A combo of the wrong number of zeros and sig figs was it. Thank you mathfreak and imranmeah. : )
