Can someone please help? Mary's garden is in the shape of a triangle. The base of the triangle is 5.5 feet and its height is 3 feet. If 4 pounds of mulch can cover a square foot of garden, how many pounds of mulch are required to cover the garden?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to start this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes can you just explain how to solve the problem to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the area of the garden and multiply by the number of pounds of mulch it takes per square foot to cover the garden

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you put it in equation form please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know the equation for the area of a triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a= 1/2bh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so take that formula and multiply by the number of pounds it takes to cover each square foot of the garden

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be a=1/2 5.5(3) and then multiply that by 4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks I understand how to solve this now : ) can you please help explain the other question I posted?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you post it again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay please hold...
