system of equation by substitution y=-2/5x x-y=7 x-(-2/5x)=7

OpenStudy (radar):

Is the 2nd term -2/(5x) or is it (2/5)x ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is -2/5x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is (-2/5)x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then that is (7x/5) = 7. Multiply both sides by 5 to get 7x = 35, then divide both sides by 7 to get x = 5. Now you have 5-y = 7, so with algebra you get y = -2.
