Multiples? Multiples are numbers that other numbers can multiply to. Like the multiples of 2 include 4, 6, 8, etc. because all those numbers can be divided by 2. So what numbers can 3 and 42 be divided by? How about 9? Can 9 be divided by 3? Yes it can! So, 9 is a multiple of 3. All multiples of 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, and many, many more. Now let's look at 42: 42, 84, 126, and more. Now, what similarities do you see between those two lists? I see that they both include 42. Since they have no other similarities that are smaller, this must be the lowest common multiple! 42!
