sum of 120 positive integers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7200 i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the way i did it was since the average is found by doing sum/ number of items i did average * the number of items to get the sum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw :)

This is a confusing problem, as a lot is not specified. Like do the 120 positive appear in consecutive order, Where do you start? etc. You sure part of the problem isn't there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i assumed it was from 1-120

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since it was not given

OpenStudy (radar):

Well that may well be. If so it is a arithmetic sequence where the difference is 1 (1, 2, 3, 4.....120) The sum would be equal to: (120/2)(120+1) or 7260
