height is 10in and the base is 12in and there is a triangle taken out of it and its height is 4in and the base is 6in..i need the area of tht triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure I understand the question. What has a height of 10 in and a base of 12 in?

OpenStudy (taylor):

a square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The area of the triangle taken out is 1/2 bh so the area of the triangle is 1/2 (4)(6) = 12 square inches.

OpenStudy (taylor):

i need the area of both shapes sorry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Squares would have to have all the sides be the same. If it's a rectangle than it would have an area of base times height so it would be 120 square inches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you take the area of the triangle out of the area of the rectangle you would get 120 - 12 or just 108 square inches.

OpenStudy (taylor):

thank you!!!!:DDD
