Sunlight reaches earth in 8 seconds and light travels at 186,000 miles/sec. So, rate x time = distance and this is 1.488 million miles, yet I know that the sun is 93 million miles away from earth. What is wrong

93000000/186000=500 seconds for the sun's light to reach earth, not 8 seconds. 500/60 = 8.333.. minutes for the sun's light to reach the earth.
