How do you change a square into a trapezoid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you could cut your square in half, and then that square across the hypotenuese, and then stick the side of equal length to the original (now rectangle) sides. Then there should be a trapezoid. You do the same for parallelogram, except for you leave one of the original 'half triangles'
