simplify 3x to the 3rd power-8x to the second power +5x over 4x to the 3rd power -5x to the second power +x??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that (3x)^3 or 3x^3?

OK firstly, write the top as (3/4) times the bottom plus some "fixing term", then convert the problem to (3/4) + P(x)/Q(x) where P and Q are polynomials such that P has a lower degree than Q. Then use polynomial logn division. Use wolfram alpha to check your answer.

the second 3xto the 3rd no ()

soccer220, You answer is here: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=(3x^3-8x^2%2B5x)/(4x^3-5x^2%2Bx) I would advise you to work it out yourself. Ask if you do not understand the procedure of polynomial long division, etc.
