Why is the area of 2 figures different when the shapes inside that figure are the same size and area?

are you trying to find the area of the shapes in the figure or the difference of the area between the inside shape and the outside shape?

I know the area of the 2 figures but the shapes inside the 2 figures are the same but the area of the total figure is different.
