how do you solve for x for sine x degrees = .489

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unless you know anything about series expansions (I'm thinking you might be someone in school), you would just punch \[\sin^{-1}(.489)\]into your calculator.

You have to make sure your calculator is operating in 'degrees' and not 'radians'. You should get something like, 29.275 degrees (which is about 29 degrees, 16.5 minutes).
