pam paid 120.60 for a pen and a box of crayon. the pen cost 2.50 more than the crayons. what is the cost of the crayons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pens=P Crayons =C \[P+C=120.60\] \[P=C+2.50\] Solve through substitution or addition, or use the sneakier way...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the pen cost 2.50 more, then if we take away 2.50 from 120.6, we have double the crayon cost, so just do \[(120.60-2.50)/2=C\]then add 2.50 to it for the cost of the pen
