Solve this quadratic equation using the quadratic formula. x^2 + 8x - 5 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x= -7.32 or x= -0.685 Hope this helps!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hi, can you put that in fraction form please?? Thanks for the answer tho :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-8 +/- √44)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :)

I agree with everything except under the squareroot it should be an 84. sqrt(b^2-4ac) and c is negative so you end up with sqrt(64+20)

Yes, you are right. I made a mistake there. The answer within the square root should be 84, not 44.
