find the derivative: w = z^-4 - 1/z

OpenStudy (anonymous):

w' = -4z^-5 +z^-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is it z\[^{-2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1/z is really just -1z^-1, so the when you subtract -1 by 1 when you take the derivative you get -2 in the power.
