Solve for x = -1 -1x^5-(-4)x^2+74

So when you substitute -1, be sure to place the -1 inside parenthesis like so:\[-1(-1)^5-(-4)(-1)^2+74\] So (-1) to an odd power will always equal -1, while (-1) to an even power will always be 1.

So now we can reduce it to this:\[-1(-1)-(-4)(1)+74 \]1+4(1)+74 79

Thanks alot!
