what is chord?
it's a line segment joining two points on a curve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_(geometry)
how do you find it?
How did I find what a chord was? How did I identify the chord? What do you mean? (I knew the definition but googled the term chord and went to the wikipedia page for confirmation) (To identify a chord you look for a curve. Draw a line from one bend to the other. That's a chord)
ohh thanx ok so why would anyone need to know wut a chord is?
There's several applications. Slope of a line (delta y over delta x) is a chord, while a derivative is a line tangent to the curve. It's used for more advanced mathematics (a derivative is part of calculus). It's generally there to confuse students on math tests early on. I.e. the AMC or SAT. It's a good term just to know, even if you won't use it practically.
thank you so much : )
