Factors of 40 and 60 (numbers that will divide into the given number evenly) 40: 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 40 60: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 60 COMMON factors are in both lists, in other words 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20 are common factors of 40 and 60. The GREATEST common factor is the largest number in the list, 20.
