PLEASE HELP: f(x, y) =2 y^3/x, (2, 4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You substitute the given values of x and y in the function and you get f(2,4) = 2*(4^2)/2 = 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok wait my bad, it should be 4^3, which would give us 64

I need to find the direction of maximum rate of change (in unit vector form)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have done it several times but keep on getting the same thing, but its wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the direction of maximum rate of change should be the direction of the gradient vector, did you do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and when its not in unit vector form I got <-32,48>
