Cathy bought 1.5 kg of strawberries. She ate 0.245 kg of them. how many kg of strawberries are left ? show your work. state your answer in a sentence form

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you simply subtract the amount she scarffed down from the total that was bought. 1.5 total (-) .245 (equals) whats left; 1.255kg left if I did it right in me head :)

THANK YOU ^_^ YOUR VERY NICE

OpenStudy (amistre64):

awww...thanx :)

hey there is 3 more questions is there a way i can chat with you.. ?? i'm new at this

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not a good way to chat, simply ask a question and ill see what i can do...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says: Enplane how you solved this problem. (Describe how you lined up the decimal points and numbers. Did you have to add anything before solving the problem? if so, what and why ?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the third one says: After Cathy ate the strawberries. her friend Sammy gave her 0.43 kg of his strawberries. How many kg of strawberries did Cathy have at the end of the day? show your work. Use a sentence for your answer

OpenStudy (amistre64):

If I had done this on paper, then I would have made 1.5 look like 1.500 and worked the problem like this 1.500 - .245 ------- .255 line up the decimals and remember how to subtract really :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

opps...left off the "1" that should be 1.255. sorry

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since cathy has 1.255 kg and her friends gives her some more, we simply add those together to find out how much she has at the end of the day. 1.255 + .430 -------- 1.685 kg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that answer number 2?? Enplane how you solved this problem. (Describe how you lined up the decimal points and numbers. Did you have to add anything before solving the problem? if so, what and why ?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (amistre64):

I believe it answers the 3rd one. Cathy has 1.685kg of berries at the end of the day.
