find the median, lower quartile and upper quartile and that's your box. Then the two end points namely 1 and 8 are your whiskers

The median is the middle value of the numbers when they are ordered in ascending order. So, first you need to reorder the data you have been given to start at the smallest value and be increasing. Therefore your data will read: 1,4,5,5,6,7,8,8
Then find the middle value which will be the (n+1)/2 value so in this case it will be the (8+1)/2 value which is the 4.5th value so the middle of 5 and 6 so the median is 5.5.
Similarly for the quartiles they will be the (n+1)/4th value and the 3(n+1)/4th value
