What equation is equivalent to 5x – 2 = 10 if we add 2 to both sides of the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well add to to both sides and then multply both side of the equation that you get by any number

OpenStudy (amistre64):

You mean: 5x-2 = 10 ....5x = 12? when is 5x-12 = 5x-12? Since 5x-12 is a line, there is only one equaltion that is equal to it. But there are an infinitely number of ways to write that equation. n(5x-12) where "n" is any number....maybe except 0.
