samantha wants to decorative paper the outside of a bucket without the lid on it. to do this she must find the surface area of this cyclinder without the top. the can has a radius of 9ft and a height of 16ft.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats a biiiigggg bucket

OpenStudy (amistre64):

circumference * height gives you the area of the sides of the bucket. circumference = 2pi(r) 18pi * 16 = 288pi units^2 (feet?) or to estimate 288(3) =about 864 units^2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your welcome :) i see it in the chatbox, but i cant respond int it....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

288pi is the amount you need. but pi is not an easy measurement, so we use 3 or 3.14 to get a better estimate.
