Find an equation of the line that fits this description: passes through (4,-6) and is perpendicular to the x-axis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x=4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you get the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a line perpendicular to the x-axis has an undefined slope, i.e. it is vertical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I couldn't figure out how to set up my equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Only one coordinate was given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, it is more of a thinking question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plot the point on a graph and you will better see how to get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This would be one I have to use the graph for then. I was thinking there was a formula for this one too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, I guess there is a formula for anything, but math is much easier if you understand what is being asked rather than try and find the correct formula. But your book/notes at some point probably tells you the form of vertical and horizontal line equations your very welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean by saying GodKeptMe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have been through a lot of hard times in my life and I continue to struggle. I believe that I am still here because God Kept Me. So I use this as my alias. It is symbolic to me. I am sorry for the delayed response but I was prepping to take an exam at school.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am leaving now. TTYL and thanks for inquiring about me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) nice God does miracles...
