Hi folks, I am looking for total beta's for European industries.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Morris, I don't think you will find this. Perhaps, I will start reporting total betas next year. You can construct them on your own, if you have access to Capital IQ, but it will take a little work. Why do you need them? Are you valuing private European businesses with undiversified owners/buyers?

OpenStudy (luigi):

too me i need a total beta to evaluate a investment of private firm in europe.. with approach Npv.. sorry but the file excel that you have charged on your website is for european industry uncorrect??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know whether we are talking about the same thing but the total beta is a measure I devised for estimating the cost of equity for privately owned firms that are being valued for sale to an undiversified investor. I report market betas for European companies (and those numbers are correct) but I have never reported total betas.

OpenStudy (luigi):

dear teacher i would evaluate an investment of private owned firm.. than i have to use a total beta i can calculate it using the beta unlevered of firm diversified investor is correct??

OpenStudy (luigi):

\[total \beta=\beta unlevere/\sqrt{R ^{2}}\]
