OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well -6-9 = -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you come up with that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6 minus 9 is -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer i think is 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You do the problem like this. You must remember the "Please excuse my dear aunt sally" if you haven't heard of this.. it is called the order of operations. You must divide before you subtract.. so the first thing you do is take 9 / -3 and you get - 3. So now you have 6 - (-3) now... two minus signs next to each other means a plus.. so you have 6 + 3 = 9....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is -3 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH... sorry it was -6 so you are correct. -6 - (-3) which is -6 + 3 = -3...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[-6 -9 \div (-3)\] this is the problem
