The total possible outcomes for throwing any two dice: (6 choose 1) * (6 choose 1) Cases where we have 8 or more: One die is a 4, and the other die is 4, 5, or 6. or One die is a 3, and the other die is 5, or 6. or One die is a 2 and the other die is a 6. So the odds of having this outcome is \[\left( 3 + 2 + 1 \right)\div36 = 1:6\]
