A quadrilateral is formed by the x-axis, the y-axis, the line y=2x-6 and the line y=-.5x+4. Find the area of this quadrilateral.

Graph the quadraterial with the equations given. Then you will find that

so if you look at the graph, you will see that the ttwo lines intersect at the point (4,2). From here you can just break down the quadrateral into smaller shapes. For ex, if you draw the line y=2 then you will get top half thats a triangle. and find the area of that. If you drawa the line x=4 then on the right side you will get another traignle and you can find the area of that. and there will be rectangle at bottomleft corner of width 4 and height 2 so you already know that the area of it is 8. then add up all the areas and you will get your final answer.
