Okay I need help ON solving rational equations for example 5x/x+2 + x+12/x 2

ok so in this case you have the following: 5x / (x+2 ) + (x+12)/(x+2) so the first step here is just to add these up since you hvae a common denominator. In this case you will get ... 5x + x + 12 / (x+2) ... this simplifies to... 6x + 12 / (x+2) ...now you will notice that we have denominator and numerator similarity... (x+2)*6 / (x+2) so the (x+2) will cancel out. Hence you have the remaining answer 6.
