Role of MBA at merchant banking ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not sure what the question is. If it is whether you need an MBA to do merchant banking, the answer is of course not. In fact, there is no profession that you need an MBA for... An MBA is helpful if (a) You are specialized in a business area (marketing, finance) and want to expand your business sense (b) Taking a break from a job where you have hit a ceiling or are just bored and need a two-year option (and an expensive one) to reconsider your future (c) For jobs where the employer has put an MBA as a pre-requisit (usually investment banking or consulting) primarily so that business schools can screen the "smartest" people for the job.
