You have two numbers and you don't know what they are.  Let them by a and b.  This is what we know about them:$$a+b=6$$and$$\frac{a}{b}=4$$(it won't matter whether we divide a by b, or b by a).

From the second equation, you have for a,$$a=4b$$which you can substitute into the first equation,$$a+b=(4b)+b=5b=6$$That is,$$5b=6 \rightarrow b=\frac{6}{5}$$Well, if b=6/5, the first equation says (you could use the second, but it would be messier)$$a+b=a+\frac{6}{5}=6 \rightarrow a=6-\frac{6}{5}=\frac{30-6}{5}=\frac{24}{5}$$

So your numbers are$$a=\frac{24}{5},b=\frac{6}{5}$$which you can check.

Yeah, you'll be right here...and it's free...and a lot of us giving answers have degrees in mathematics.

Which is why you should look for the people who actually have degrees if you want to be sure you're getting right answers. It really is helpful.

And you won't look dumb at all. It's more embarassing to answer a question completely wrong than to ask a question xD
