http://img858.imageshack.us/img858/2572/andysnap011.png Are these the answers for the two short answer questions? x^2 - 4x - 10 = 0 x = 2 +/- (1/2)sqrt(56) so x = 2 + sqrt(14) or x = 2 - sqrt(14) y = x^2 + 2x - 8 Need to solve for y = 0 so: x^2 + 2x - 8 = 0 (x + 4)(x - 2) = 0 x = -4 or x = 2 Answer = 2 - (-4) = 6 units
