For this problem that I'm working, I got 9/24 which would be reduced to 3/8. The problem is x+1/8+-1/4. Is my answer correct?

in which case x = -3/8

8(x+1/8 = 1/4)

8x + 1 = 8/4

8x +1 = 2

8x +1-1 = 2-1

8x = 1

8x/8 = 1/8

x = 1/8 if I read it correctly...
