(1/z)2 = 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help me solve for z

OpenStudy (gg):

z is from C or R?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so we can take squareroot of both sides so we will get 1/z = 4 therefore 1 = 4z --> 1/4 = z

OpenStudy (gg):

1/z=-4 too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup thanks for pointing that out. i still forget that. since you are working with a squareroot you hvae to take both positive and negative answer. because (-4)^2 = 16 and so does (4)^2 = 16. so you hvae to take both positive nad negative answer into account
