The line defined by the equation y=6x+8 has the y -intercept ???? and the x-intercept ????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-intercept is y when x=0; x-intercept is x when y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in otherwords to find the y intercept of the equation plug 0 in for x. and to find the x intercept plug 0 in for y of the equation

ok thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the y intercepts but i cant get the x intercepts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you could plug it into a calculator to get the intercepts too. but you will have 0 =6x+8 so move the 8 over by subtraction so you get -8=6x then divide the 6 over and you will get -8/6 which can reduce down to -4/3 so that is your x intercept

ok that makes more sense! thanks!
