Grace has 16 jellybeans in her pocket. She has 8 red ones, 4 green ones, and 4 blue ones. What is the minimum number of jellybeans she must take out of her pocket to ensure that she has one of each color?

13 I guess

I like the I guess part of your answer. I am fixing to take an exam to get into nursing school and these are practice questions. I'm in college and feel stupid not knowing these answers.

lol.. well, we want to insure that she gets one of each color, to "insure" that we have to assume the worst << scary haha.. that's: she will first take the 12 red and (green or blue) jellybeans, and then she will get the 13th one of the last color. I know it's not that clear, but this is the best I could do :( GOOD LUCK in your exam anyway
