Would the LCD of 6, 12 and (2x+1) be 24x + 12?

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

do you mean least common multiple (lcm) or greatest common divisor (gcd) ?

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

lcd is either liquit crystal display (which makes no sense ;-) ) or least common divisor, which is always 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes LCM sorry :P

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

There are two cases you have to consider, depending on whether 3 divides 2x+1. You have to write down the prime factors for each number and take for each prime factor the biggest exponent that occurs. e.g. If you take x=1, 2x+1 = 3 and thus the biggest exponents in 3, 6=2•3 and 12=2²•3 are always in 12.
