Umm say you have 1/3 + 1/4 . You can't add fractions that don't have the same denominator. Sooooo .. you find the lowest common denominator. Multiply the 3 by 4 and the 4 by 3 And .. What you do to the denominator you must do to the numerator. 1/3 + 1/4 = 1x4/3x4 + 1x3/4x3 = 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12
